’m an honest, ethical, kind, considerate, literate, and loving person who is intellectually and physically active, emotionally available, and spiritually awake. I’m also a part-time instructor at a local university and have taught a variety of courses in the humanities over the years. I read, write, or translate something almost every day, and I enjoy the study of language, literature, philosophy, and religion. Above all, I suffer from an acute susceptibility to the power of poetic language.
In addition to exercising daily, I also enjoy spending time with friends, dining out (Chinese, Indian, German, Italian, or virtually anything else), engaging in cultural activities of various kinds (e.g., visiting museums, art exhibits, concerts, the theatre, lectures), or watching a TCM classic film I recorded. As for cooking, I enjoy it even more when I have a partner, and I’m only too happy to serve as a sous-chef for someone more experienced in the kitchen. Finally, although I am by nature a serious person, I have a healthy sense of humor and genuinely enjoy making others laugh and/or lightening any momentary sorrow. Meet me and you'll see.
I’m seeking a sisterly soul for all forms of dialogue: intellectual, spiritual, and physical. I want a confidante, a friend, and a collaborator in living—omeone who is capable of both giving and receiving in the context of a mindful and meaningful committed relationship. However full your life may be with family and friends, you should take time for yourself, have thoughts to share, and enjoy sharing them with someone who will receive them with gratitude and offer you understanding and affection in return. In short, you should prefer communication to conversation. You should also have the time, the capacity, and the desire for a fully human relationship and be as open as I am to being changed—not essentially, but in some ways—within and by such a relationship. For example, I have not been much of a traveler, but I am willing to travel with you if that is something you enjoy. Still, no matter where we go, being with you will be more important to me than our destination. I’m not seeking the exotic, just the joyful celebration of daily life.
While I have much to offer the right person, I want you to know that I’ve been diagnosed with a fairly rare form of macular degeneration. I can still drive without restrictions, but I choose to no longer drive at night, and I must now use magnifying devices to help me read. I’m told that my vision may stabilize rather than worsen, but no one can tell me at what point that may occur. I tell you this simply because I’m honest and have no desire to waste your time. I’m probably in no more danger than you of ever going blind; it’s just that my world looks more like a Monet painting than does yours.
My photos are all from the summer of 2011, so If I look far younger than my years, that is due to diet, genes, and exercise, not to photo fraud. Photos are desirable here, but please don’t tell me that you "like" one of my photos or send me a "wink." If things I write here resonate with you, tell me what they are, what values you think we share, or what we have in common. If you are a woman for whom character counts, words matter, and moments are meant to be savored, please send me a note and tell me so. Speak to me in the language that you know, and I will respond. I’m so looking forward to hearing from you
